Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the Wolof of Senegal

Corey and Katie Garrett

In different states and in different ways, God called both of us to missions in Africa when we were still teenagers. When we finally met, Corey was just returning from six months in Tanzania and Katie was about to leave for her student teaching at Dakar Academy in Senegal. It was obvious God had something for us to do to serve Him together!

Since then, the Lord has led us each step of the way, pouring out His love and grace on us. We have been serving in Senegal since 2000, working side by side with believers from all around the world. God has blessed us with three precious daughters: Emma, 7, Molly, 6, and Julia Wheaton, 3. Having grown up in Senegal, they are at home here and naturally speak Wolof and prefer eating rice with their hands!

Over the past nine years, we have seen God working among the Wolof people, slowly and miraculously. We have had the privilege of sharing the Good News about Jesus with many Wolof people who have opened their homes and lives to us. At times, we have cried in frustration. Other times we have been filled with joy as some have believed and been baptized, joining the family of Christ.

We are grateful to be here, living out the dream God has put in our hearts of working towards the coming of His Kingdom in this dry and needy land.
